On September 24, 2024, we experienced a magical evening in the splendid setting of the cloisters of Sant’Eustorgio, at the Museo Diocesano in Milan. With the “Longo al Chiostro” event, we welcomed over one thousand guests to celebrate the excellence of Italian food and wine and our art of transforming these wonders into exclusive and memorable gifts.
After a break of several years, we resumed our tradition of events, previously hosted in prestigious venues such as La Triennale, the Mudec, and the Circolo della Stampa. This edition exceeded all expectations, bringing together clients, suppliers, and partners for an evening filled with extraordinary flavors, emotions, and unforgettable surprises.
A Family Tradition That Continues to Evolve
Founded over sixty years ago in Legnano, our company, Longo un Mondo di Specialità, is today a benchmark for high-quality food and wine gifts in Italy. With Giovanni, Osvaldo, and Paola at the helm alongside Andrea, Giulia, and Cecilia, the second and third generations of the family continue to lead the company with passion and vision, keeping our roots and traditions alive while evolving to meet the needs of our customers.
Longo at the Cloister: An Event Dedicated to Italian Excellence
The “Longo al Chiostro” event was the perfect occasion to present our new proposals for the Christmas campaign, made possible also thanks to the collaboration with over thirty producers of Italian food and wine excellence present at the event. Among the most representative brands were Bottega di Adò with its artisanal Tuscan cured meats, Gardini chocolate from Emilia, Verrigni pasta with its innovative “Smoked Rigatoro,” and Armatore, a symbol of the fishing tradition of the Amalfi Coast. Guests had the opportunity to taste these products directly from the producers, discovering the stories of passion and dedication behind each excellence. Not to be missed were our exclusive Bardi-Longo panettoni and pandori.
Wine as the Star of the Evening
Wine played a central role during the evening, thanks to the presence of over forty wineries selected by our Enoteca Longo in Legnano, repeatedly awarded for the quality of its selection. Guided by the sommeliers of the Italian Sommelier Association, our guests were able to savor a wide range of labels. A special moment was offered by the historic winery Ca’ del Bosco, which captivated attendees with a fascinating degorgement à la volée of over 200 bottles of Dosage Zero 2015.
The Restaurateurs of the Fuoricasello Guide
We had the honor of hosting three renowned restaurateurs from the Fuoricasello guide, our editorial project that highlights the best restaurants near highway exits. La Rampolina from Verbania, Burde from Florence, and Osteria Antico Borgo Mezzano from San Giuliano Milanese delighted our guests with regional recipes prepared on the spot, using ingredients selected by Longo.
A Journey Through Stories of Passion and Flavor
On the stage, masterfully hosted by Adua Villa, a renowned journalist, author, and sommelier, we took the audience on a fascinating journey through producers’ stories and sensory tastings. Among the interviewed guests were Marius Dumitru, Best Sommelier of Lombardy, and Francesco Anastasi, college recruiter at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Pollenzo, with whom we have collaborated for many years.
The Unique Atmosphere of the Cloister and Our Longo Space
As evening fell, the atmosphere became even more enchanting. The cloister of the Museo Diocesano lit up, showcasing Longo’s elegant gift boxes—a perfect blend of art and customization—where corporate logos take center stage. There was also a special area dedicated to our Spazio Longo, recently recognized as a Corporate Museum, which tells the story of our family and company. Among catalogues, artworks, and historical images, this space will now hold new memories of an evening that celebrated Italian food and wine excellence, making the cloister of the Museo Diocesano in Milan the setting for an event that will remain unforgettable.
